Welcome to our page of blogs. We are currently training community leaders from around the state to blog at this site too. The vast distances we face in this state can partly be bridged by this shared conversation.

Our goal is to encourage informal, positive discussion that spurs people to connect with each other and to take united action to promote democracy, justice, equality and freedom. Idahoans have played an important role in the progressive movement in the US and we will continue to do so. Because Idaho is overlooked and dismissed by national pundits, the work of our local leaders is more resilient, creative and authentic. Join us!

May 31

My friends in the Peace Coalition reminded us that Idaho's congressmen have refused to acknowledge the biggest moral error of our generation and again voted to extend the threat to thousands more US service men and women, their families and our communities. Not to mention, of course, expanding the threat to thousands of families in the middle east and America's moral standing in the world.

In Congress, Senators Crapo and Craig and Congressmen Sali and Simpson approved another $96 billion dollars to extend the US occupation of Iraq during its brutal civil war. They have refused to acknowledge that the premise for the war they supported was wrong, yet they stubbornly want to spend more. The war and the occupation that has followedhas taken the lives of 3,450 US service women and men, untold tens (or perhaps hundreds) of thousands of Iraqis and many others. Recruitment for terrorists organizations has increased as America's respect in the world drops.

I encourage you to participate in a gathering put together by the Idaho Peace Coalition to Respect Fallen Idaho Soldiers, Support Troop Withdrawal, and DEMAND Idaho's Congressmen to take their heads out of the sand and end this occupation. If you are in the Treasure Valley tomorrow, June 1, gather at the Idaho Statehouse at 4:30 to form action teams and get directions and materials. Teams will then disperse on foot to a variety of locations throughout downtown.
