Welcome to our page of blogs. We are currently training community leaders from around the state to blog at this site too. The vast distances we face in this state can partly be bridged by this shared conversation.

Our goal is to encourage informal, positive discussion that spurs people to connect with each other and to take united action to promote democracy, justice, equality and freedom. Idahoans have played an important role in the progressive movement in the US and we will continue to do so. Because Idaho is overlooked and dismissed by national pundits, the work of our local leaders is more resilient, creative and authentic. Join us!

I just finished voting. That's right. I voted 16 days early from the comfort of my desk. Why? The genius of absentee voting. You don't have to be out of town to take advantage of this great opportunity.

Why did I chose to vote by mail? For starters, I could do it at my convenience. I have a two year old and I can't always do things during "normal business hours." By having my ballot in hand, I could take my time contemplating the issues and candidates. I could do my research as I cast my vote.

Then there is the timing. By voting early, I can be available on election day to help other people get to the polls to vote. I don't have to worry about traffic, lines at the polls or getting a babysitter. I don't have to risk bad weather or the chance that I will be sick that day. I am assured that my vote has been cast.

If you want to vote early, but worry about the security of mailing your ballot, many counties are now offering early voting. Visit your county's website or call your County Clerk's office and ask if this is available to you.  By voting early, you can feel secure about the voting process & that the Clerk's office has received your vote. Again, you can avoid the lines  at the polls and save gas by combining your stop at the polling place with your other errands.

In the end, the point is to get to the polls and vote. Whether you vote by mail, early or on election day, please get to your polling place and vote. If you aren't yet registered to vote, that's okay too. You can register and vote at the same time on election day. If you want to register to vote before then, check with your County Clerk's office to find out how.

It's your democracy. Exercise your right and VOTE!
